the show actually sent us, they sent us the script ahead of time. in fact, they sent us the rough edits. so we sat with a psychiatrist in our office for a second round to review every episode, which is very rare for a network to do and they did an excellent job. we then collaborated with samhsa to develop a public service announcement. we got permission and samhsa helped us develop a script. and this psa featured this gorgeous young actress who was the woman with bipolar disorder in the story referring young people to a special landing page, a web site. and we tracked the traffic. there were huge spikes the day of the show and the day after this psa aired. and kids actually could enter discussion threads. and there were some really heart-breaking stories in there; kids who said, "i've been telling my parents for 2 years there's something wrong with me; now i know i have bipolar disorder, they don't believe me." well, in this case it was one of samhsa's partner groups, they had trained therapists in the discussion group who could actually refer kids

so that made it tough for us. but from there we had a chance to go and visit some of the great things that are going on in our district, and we had a chance to also go to sherman elementary school, that also showed some phenomenal double-digit growth and really are doing some incredible work there. and that was great. and we also had an opportunity to visit one middle school, and that was a fun trip because, as you know, my favorite is middle school, so we had an opportunity to go over where your son was, you know. and i didn't see him, but it was -- we went to james lake middle school and it's great to have a board member who actually has a son there. yeah, i think he was avoiding me. but anyway, you know, it was a wonderful -- to really showcase all the great work that's going on in our schools was really fascinating and exciting. and just so that you know, sometimes the voters, we can't thank you enough for passing these bonds. i know you have to pay for it, but i'll tell you, really every penny is so well spen

we first started with our own waterfront land use plan and design and access element. we also looked at the embarcadero, not standards, which eventually -- hopefully the system will read as a single unit so you can travel from fisherman's wharf all the way over to herons head park and be on a single identifiable system. updating existing guidelines. we look at the city of oakland's waterfront trail. hudson river park in new york, and the blue waste plant in the city of vancouver, canada, and the one that most resembles our waterfront is the port of oakland's waterfront plan, which is a good example of some of the work that we can apply to the southern waterfront. as a part of best practices, we looked at sign it, how we can improve sign it to provide continuity on the system, site furnishings -- how we design and establish criteria for furnishings that are durable, made tenable, comfortable, and usable. and again, the idea of connections. how do we connect open spaces together down to the waterfront? a good example of this is in vancouver where they have lives that com

it had enabled us to help us continue to hire and meet demand. we currently have 12 food employees working with us now. now, they are currently mentoring other employees to follow in their footsteps. we would really like the program to continue because it would allow small business owners like myself the ability to take risk and continue to invest. also, the taxpayers, the best way to rescue the economy is by giving jobs to rescue people on main street. looking at various other progress on by stimulus, from my research, this is by far the most effective way to get people back onto the street, on to the payroll, and i want to again thank mayor newsom and trent for their leadership because that is a type of innovation that as a taxpayer, we see on these issues, which is the kind of innovation that makes america the country it is today. now, mayor newsom: what really caught my attention was that he did not want to take the risk of hiring additional employees in the hopes that the company would grow. jobs now allowed him to hire additional employees
